Experience and Influences

My interest in understanding how people live their lives and cope with life’s challenges and changes, led me to explore the field of psychology. I initially studied and obtained my Psychology degree in South Africa. I worked in areas of trauma, bereavement, hospices and with depression and anxiety. This experience deepened my knowledge of our existential dilemmas and I continue to work with and be interested in this.

After relocating to the UK, I pursued this path further, choosing to do a Masters degree in gestalt psychotherapy, as I like that this is a holistic therapy that encourages self understanding and awareness, and that supports lively change and engagement with life.  I continue to work with trauma, bereavement, anxiety, depression as well as with adoption related issues and couples therapy. I also work with and have a special interest in self development and transpersonal therapy. I have a passionate interest in the natural world, and of being in the wilderness, which I have explored through hiking, mountaineering and getting out into nature as often as possible. My own experiences in nature led me to explore the Vision Quest as a path to self-understanding. I have subsequently trained in leading Vision Quests.

I continue to explore my own development and interests through various means. These include the transpersonal, dream work, ancestor work and my abiding interest in astrology.
